Corrections policy

A visible process for fixing mistakes without hiding the fact that a page changed.

Verification note: This policy applies to factual, procedural, source, accessibility, and broken-link corrections on the site.

Quick answer

The short version

Send a source-backed correction with the page URL and exact claim. The editorial desk will verify it, update the page when warranted, preserve the stable URL, and record a material change in the page’s update date or note.

What to send

  • The exact page URL and the sentence, table cell, link, or step you believe is wrong.
  • A link to the primary source or two independent sources when the correction is not directly documented by Apple.
  • The date you checked the source and any relevant region, iOS version, carrier, or accessory context.
  • No passwords, recovery codes, payment information, or private device identifiers.

How a correction is reviewed

  1. Reproduce the claim

Locate the exact statement and confirm whether the issue is factual, outdated, unclear, or merely a difference in context.

  2. Check the source

Prefer Apple’s current documentation or another primary source. A single conflicting comment is not enough to rewrite a technical claim.

  3. Choose the smallest fix

Correct the sentence, table, link, or warning without changing the page’s intent or creating a duplicate URL.

  4. Record material changes

Update the visible date or note when the correction materially changes the answer. Cosmetic edits do not need a fake freshness signal.

Send a correction

Use the contact page and include a source. If the issue is urgent or safety-related, say so clearly in the subject line.

Evidence boundary

Confirmed

  • The site accepts source-backed corrections through its public contact route.
  • Material corrections preserve stable URLs and are reflected in update metadata.
Needs context

Provisional

  • Response time depends on the available editorial mailbox and the complexity of the claim.

FAQ

Will you delete a page after a correction?

Usually no. The default is to preserve a useful stable URL and correct or merge it, unless the page is genuinely redundant, unsafe, or unsupported.
